It would be recalled that pursuant to the publication of documents submitted by each of the candidates taking part in the coming Osun Governorship Elections slated for the 15th of August, 2026 by INEC, it was discovered that Mr
Bola Oyebamiji (popularly known as AMBO) actually forged one of his certificates wherein he used a name which did not tally and correspond with the certificates he claimed to have obtained and submitted to INEC for eligibility for the coming Governorship election.
Consequently, as one of the registered political parties in Nigeria, Action Peoples Party (APP) through a legal framework filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Osogbo challenging Mr. Bola Oyebamiji"s eligibility with a view to getting him disqualified from taking part in the election, having breached the constitutional provision relating to submission of fake credentials to INEC.
Since the filing of the case with INEC as the 1st respondent, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, 2nd, and APC as the 3rd, via Suit No FHC/OS/CS/50/2026, the embattled Oyebamiji has been evading service of the court process.
However,today, Monday,
11th of May, 2026, the Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has granted an order of substituted service of the originating summons on Mr. Bola Oyebamiji by pasting same at the Osun State Secretariat of APC, Osogbo,
as its candidate for the coming election over inability to get him served with the court process.
In the interim, the court has adjourned hearing of the substantive originating summons to the 8th of June, 2026. The Independent National Electoral Commission has filed a defence to the suit admitting submission of the document in dispute by Oyebamiji, but only claiming that it is only an aspirant on the platform of the APC that can question such, which postulation is not in tandem with the express provisions of the Nigerian Constitution under which the suit was filed.
Let it be known that there's no amount of running from justice that will insulate or protect Mr. Bola Oyebamiji ( AMBO) from being caught up with the long arm of the law in this certificate saga currently before him at the Federal High Court of Justice, Osogbo, Osun State .
