Dosmart” Gains Massive Backing as Orolu Leaders Demand Assembly Ticket for Ifon-Osun

Eight ward chairmen, 12 LG executives and 140 ward executives endorse Afolabi ahead of 2027 race

Political support is rapidly consolidating around Hon. Olawale Wasiu Afolabi, popularly known as “Dosmart,” following a major endorsement by party stakeholders in Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State ahead of the 2027 House of Assembly election.

In a joint resolution released on Wednesday, eight ward chairmen, 12 local government executives, and 140 ward executives openly declared support for Afolabi as their preferred candidate to represent the Irepodun/Orolu State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly.

The endorsement also reportedly received backing from the council vice-chairman, council secretary, and six councillors within Orolu Local Government, signaling growing political momentum around the Ifon-Osun politician.

Addressed to the State Executive Council and key leaders within the Accord Party, the statement urged party stakeholders to embrace fairness, equity, and internal democracy in the selection of candidates for the 2027 election.

Stakeholders Push Zoning to Orolu

The political leaders argued that the Assembly seat should be zoned to Orolu Local Government to ensure balanced representation within the constituency.

According to them, Irepodun Local Government has produced lawmakers for 16 years since 1999, while Orolu has occupied the seat for only 12 years.

They insisted that allowing Orolu to produce the next lawmaker would promote justice, political stability, and unity across the constituency.

“Dosmart” Seen as Grassroots Favourite

The stakeholders described Afolabi as a grassroots mobiliser with growing acceptance among youths, elders, and party faithful across Ifon-Osun and surrounding communities.

They noted that his loyalty to party structures, accessibility, and local appeal have positioned him as a leading figure ahead of the 2027 contest.

Warning Against Candidate Imposition

The group also cautioned against attempts to impose candidates, warning that such actions could undermine party unity and democratic principles.

They therefore appealed to party leaders across the state to respect the wishes of Orolu stakeholders by supporting the zoning of the Assembly ticket to the area and backing Hon. Olawale Wasiu Afolabi, popularly known as “Dosmart,” for the race.
