Defection: We Are Not Following You — Obokun/Oriade Members Disown Fadahunsi, Wole Oke
The leaders and members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency have cleared the air on the defection of Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi and Hon. Wole Oke, describing their moves as purely self-serving and lacking the backing of the party structure.
According to the chairmen of the party in Obokun and Oriade local governments, Prince Adelani Owoeye and Hon. Samuel Adeloye, neither the party executives nor the general membership were consulted before their defection. They emphasized that no genuine and committed members of the PDP followed them in their political adventure.
“Though we are aware that they have been moving around with cash inducements in a desperate attempt to lure our members into what can only be described as political oblivion, our members have remained resolute and refused to be deceived,” he stated.
“As we speak, no reasonable and committed member will follow either Fadahunsi or Wole Oke. What they have displayed is nothing short of ingratitude to the platform that gave them relevance and electoral victory, particularly in the case of Wole Oke.”
They further added, “Wole Oke was politically unknown before joining the PDP. The party gave him the structure, support, and goodwill that sustained his political career. It is therefore unfortunate that he now believes he can dismantle the very house that sheltered him when the storms of political uncertainty raged.”
The leadership also alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to stage-manage a show of strength by mobilizing its members to create the false impression that PDP members in Obokun/Oriade have defected en masse.
“This narrative is a fabrication and a lie from the pit of hell. Our members remain intact, united, and unwavering in their loyalty. The structure of both PDP in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency remains solid and fully operational.”
They reaffirmed their unalloyed support for the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, noting that his people-centered governance, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and commitment to infrastructural development continue to earn him widespread acceptance across Osun State.
The statement concluded by urging members to remain calm, focused, and committed to the collective vision of the party, stressing that no amount of political intimidation, financial inducement, or propaganda can weaken the unity and determination of the PDP in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
